During my second time working at the Library, I had the opportunity to do the reference desk for the 4 hour shift and the rest of the day studying the website and shadowing our Librarian 2 Tamera. . This is personally my favorite because it is constant interactions with the Patrons and it is rewarding after helping them out and making sure they had a pleasant time. Tamera gave me about 2 hours of our time where I shadowed her weeding books and helping Patrons as well. She also went into detail about the career path for Librarians and how each type of Library works. The rest of the time was with Devon who is the Librarian 1 and he was showing different services including a 3-d printing service which Patrons really enjoy.
Kelly who is our District Librarian was super nice, and she took the time to sit with me for four hours and answer tons of questions from the Library layout, the different departments, how to work the computers, and the policies for checking out books and electronic materials. Out of the day, the only thing I did not like was shelving books, it is the job for our pages to do that but for the practice I was doing it each time circulation dropped off new books on my desk. Overall, it was a great day and very relieved that the staff is super supportive. I also shadowed Kelly on the reference desk when she was helping Patrons and if she got up to move I would follow her and learn the layout a little better.
